On November 4, 2023, Mumbai Police arrested a 19-year-old man named Ganesh Ramesh Vanpardh from Telangana for sending email death threats and demanding a ransom of Rs 400 crore from Mukesh Ambani, the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). The accused had been sending multiple threatening emails to Mukesh Ambani and his family over the past few months, warning of serious consequences if the ransom was not paid.
Ambani had received three death threats, with the most recent one demanding a ransom of Rs 400 crore. These threats were sent via email from the same email address and were traced back to Belgium. The Mumbai Police have increased security around Ambani's residence, Antilia, and are actively investigating the case. They have also reached out to the Belgian-based email service provider for information about the sender.
It's worth noting that Mukesh Ambani, Asia's richest man and a prominent figure in India's business world, already has high-level security provided by the central government, including 'Z' Plus security, which includes government security forces and private guards to ensure his safety.
